Part 1: The Womb Remembers – Healing After a Miscarriage

Updated: Nov 7

Hey Juju Mama, we need to talk. This isn't one of those fluffy, "it'll all get better in time" conversations either.

Nope!

We're talking about the raw, real, and deep truth of what happens when you’ve experienced a miscarriage and that womb is holding onto the memory like a toxic ex who won't get out of your head.

Your womb carries memories. Trust me, those memories can affect your mind, spirit, and the way you move forward in life.

Now, I know society tells you to just “move on” or “try again,” like your body didn't just go through one of the hardest, most soul-wrenching experiences a woman can face. But you can't fool your body into forgetting.

The trauma doesn’t just poof disappear.

The Womb Holds Memory.

Let me say it again for the Juju Mamas in the back!

Every experience—good, bad, beautiful, and ugly—leaves an imprint on your womb. Miscarriage is one of those traumatic experiences that can leave you feeling emotionally and physically out of whack for months, even years. If you're not careful and intentional, it can cause blocks in your creative energy, intimacy, and, yes, future fertility.

So, how do we get this healing popping?

How do we release that trauma from your womb and move forward feeling whole again?

Let’s get real and break down these steps, mama:

1. Acknowledge and Speak Your Pain

First off, stop burying the pain like it never happened. The first step in healing your womb is giving yourself permission to grieve. Cry it out, scream into a pillow if you need to, but acknowledge what you went through. Too often, Black women feel like they have to be "strong" 24/7, but grief is strength. You went through something, sis. Allow yourself to feel it. Speak your pain out loud, even if it's just you in the mirror saying, "This hurts, but I’m still here."

2. Move Your Body, Move the Trauma

Trauma lodges itself in the body—particularly the womb. If you stay stagnant, so does the pain. You need to move it out. I don’t mean you gotta hit the gym like you’re training for the Olympics. No, ma’am. We’re talking soft, intentional movement. Start with yoga or even a sensual dance in front of your mirror. Just move the energy out of your body. Focus on hip movements and deep breathing that centers your womb.

3. Herbal Healing for the Womb

Your ancestors have been whispering remedies to you, but you might not be hearing them. Herbs like red raspberry leaf, mugwort, and motherwort can support womb healing. Sip on some herbal teas and let Mother Nature do what she’s been doing for centuries—helping us heal. These herbs can help detox your womb, balance your hormones, and ground you emotionally.

4. Spiritual Bathing Ritual

This is where we get serious about cleansing the energy. A spiritual bath helps you wash away the stagnant energy your womb might be holding. Draw a bath with sea salt, rose petals, lavender, and rosemary. Set an intention before you get in. As the water touches your skin, visualize it washing away the trauma from your miscarriage. Let it take away the grief, guilt, and heaviness. After you’re done, air dry and step into this new chapter of healing.

Ritual for You, Juju Mama:

Womb Healing Meditation & Release Ritual

  • Set Your Space: Light a white candle and sit in a quiet, sacred space.

  • Herb Ally: Place a mugwort or red raspberry leaf tea beside you, sipping slowly.

  • Breathe: Place your hands on your womb and take slow, deep breaths.

  • Speak to Your Womb: Out loud, say: "I release the pain, the grief, the trauma. I honor this womb for all it has held and released."

  • Visualization: Close your eyes and visualize your benevolent ancestors praying over you. Let their prayers wash over any sadness or blocks.

  • Affirmation: Say to yourself: "I am whole. I am healing. I am worthy."
